After the sudden passing of its beloved founder, Dr. Fredric Brandt, dr. brandt skincare knew that a national dialogue was long overdue and they must take a bold step forward to build empathy for mental health concerns. That was the catalyst behind the creation of The Dr. Brandt Foundation, established by dr. brandt® skincare, in partnership with The Miami Foundation, in 2015. Designed to foster meaningful talk about often-disabling states of depression and other mental health issues, the Foundation provides insight and support to individuals, and their families, affected by mood disorders, shedding new light on the causes, effects and treatments — offering both hope and help to those in need.
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), one person dies by suicide in the U.S. every 13 minutes, leading to more than 40,000 deaths a year. The AFSP’s core focus is to promote awareness, prevention, understanding, and hope to reverse this upward trend and save lives. Working in conjunction with the AFSP, the Dr. Brandt Foundation aids its efforts in research, education and advocacy.
Furthering the legacy and passions of its founder, Dr. Fredric Brandt, the Foundation also supports the research of skin diseases — an affiliation with The University of Miami’s Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, one of the country’s most esteemed and influential programs, provides a rare resource, and early access to groundbreaking findings— as well as organizations that work with young artists to enhance their skills, and the Humane Society.
Just as Dr. Fredric Brandt pioneered change in the beauty industry The Dr. Brandt Foundation will work tirelessly to educate the public forever removing the negative stigma surrounding mental illness and encourage compassion for all those affected by it.
